Preparations in Ukraine continue despite the crisis

David Taylor, Secretary General of the UEFA considers that Ukraine is actively preparing itself to organise European football championship in 2012.

He expressed this opinion on Thursday, when visiting Lviv with UEFA delegation.

"Regardless of global financial crisis we found out, that in Ukraine the preparations to Euro 2012 continue, works are conducted and this makes us optimistic" said, as cited by Interfax-Ukraina press agency.

Lviv stadium. Taylor emphasized that he is not entitled to make official statements as regards the level of preparedness of all Ukrainian cities - candidates for Tournament's hosts. He also added that he liked Lviv very much.

"Lviv is a wonderful city, but it will be even better if it builds the stadium. You have beautiful monuments, but the stadium is a basic condition to obtain the right to host Euro 2012", he stressed.

n the ranking list of Ukrainian cities wishing to become organisers of the Tournament. Other Ukrainian cities, in which UEFA delegation spent last four days, are ahead of it both in terms of the pace of construction, as well as regards the preparations of infrastructure.
