Announcement of PL.2012 Company PDF Print

With regard to numerous contradicting press publications on the progress of construction works on stadia in UEFA EURO 2012™ host cities, which may mislead the public, the PL.2012 company hereby informs on the status of works realised at the facilities in Gdańsk, Poznań, Warsaw and Wrocław.

FOOTBALL STADIUM IN GDAŃSK

Preliminary works for steel structure assembly are currently under way – a supplementation of the assembly project.

In the very near future, the steel structure assembly shall commence – preassembly shall take place in January/February 2010, the assembly at the beginning of March 2010, and the completion of the assembly, in July/August 2010.

On January 7, 2010, at the meeting with the contractor of steel substructure and roofing, the procedure of conduct ensuring timeliness was determined.

The last stage of ICT tender is also planned – sending MCT, documentation and invitation to submit offers on January 11, 2010, offers submitting within 40 days of the day of announcement. It is planned that the Agreement with the contractor be signed in March 2010.

There are works in the course on preparation of tender documents as regards selection of the Stadium Operator – the tender is planned to be announced in March 2010.

As regards all the stadia under construction, the quality, costs, safety and schedule are the priority. In the case of Gdańsk investment, the approval by BIEG 2012 of the project documentation concerning the assembly of steel structure by the contractor is of key importance. At the same time, the construction execution term is not under threat. It shall be January 2011.

MUNICIPAL STADIUM IN POZNAŃ

The assembly of main components of steel roof structure (approx. 3,500 tonnes) was finished, and the realisation of remaining steel construction elements was started. In the 1st quarter, first elements of the roof diaphragm shall be mounted and advanced installation and finishing works shall be under way.

There are masonry works under way at the 1st  rostrum, and partly also finishing and installation works inside it. Along the rostrum, retaining walls are also raised. Inside the 3rd rostrum, finishing and installation works are conducted.

Reinforced concrete works in the corner between the rostrum 1st and 2nd are also under way – level +17.90, as well as reinforced concrete works at the joint of the rostrum 2nd and 3rd – level + 19.00.

The execution of infills was launched (between the corner of the 4th rostrum and adjacent rostrums 1st and 3rd – areas which earlier served as roadways for caterpillar cranes and assembly site). The infill located on the 1st rostrum’s side – the reinforced concrete works are under way – level 1.47 m (execution of pillars and sub-auditorium walls), the infill on the side of 3rd rostrum – reinforced concrete works under way at the level of 6.60 m (execution of pillars, preparation of the reinforcement).

There are structural ceilings under execution at the level of +6.60 m along the 3rd rostrum - promenade, and foundations as well as pillars on which the promenade shall be placed along the 1st rostrum was already executed.

As regards the roofing, the integration and assembly of further arch elements is under way. These are so-called ‘fishbone’ elements which will connect the reinforced concrete construction with main girders. Concurrently, under way there is assembly of steel substructure on which the diaphragm shall be placed, namely the elements connecting the ‘fishbone’ parts, onto which the diaphragm shall be directly drawn. A further stage of assembly of the sun roof substructure elements on the southern side is in the course.

In the nearest future, the assembly of further two arch (‘fishbone’) elements, as well as substructure on which the diaphragm is going to be placed shall be executed on the eastern side.

The term of completion of the construction is planned to fall in June 2010, which is in line with the schedule.

NATIONAL STADIUM IN WARSAW

There are works currently proceeding as regards the reinforced concrete structure, the structure elements are already visible above the former Tenth Anniversary Stadium crown.

As early as in November 2009, thanks to the slide scaffoldings technique applied, which significantly accelerate the reinforced concrete works, the staircases were accomplished.

There are noggings being assembled currently, on which the rostrum steps shall be mounted.

Simultaneously with the works on the construction, the installation works are conducted, inter alia roof water discharge network and rain drainage discharge network, encircling the stadium with a ring.

There is intense production under way of reinforced concrete prefabs of different types in ten prefab works throughout Poland.

The advancement of execution of steel structure elements executed in Pordenone, Italy, already exceeded 50%. First elements were delivered to the construction site on January 4, 2010.

In the Stadium construction schedule, a number of key terms was stipulated in order to facilitate monitoring of the degree of advancement of works. First of these falls in June 2010, when the main steel structure of the Stadium shall be accomplished.

The second one falls at the beginning of November 2010 – and marks the commencement of Stadium’s enclosed facilities heating to ensure good work conditions for the inside works to be performed in the winter season 2010/2011.

The third term expires in January 2011 – that is when the rope roof structure shall be made.

According to the plans, the construction shall be finished in May 2011, i.e. in line with the schedule and the agreement concluded on May 4, 2009, with the Consortium comprising Alpine Bau Deutschland AG, Alpine Construction Polska Sp. zo.o., Alpine Bau GmbH,  PBG S.A. and HYDROBUDOWA POLSKA S.A., under which the Contractor is obliged to complete the construction of the National Stadium within 24 months.

MUNICIPAL STADIUM IN WROCŁAW

On December 30, 2009, the Wrocław Commune terminated the Agreement with the consortium of companies comprising Mostostal Warszawa S.A., J&P Avax S.A., Greece, Wrocławskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budownictwa Przemysłowego nr 2 „Wrobis” S.A., Modern Construction Design Sp. z o.o. with immediate effect. The purpose of the termination was a delay in execution of the agreement as well as undue execution thereof. At the very same day, the termination was notified to MoSaT, PL.2012, PFA and UEFA, prior to a press conference summoned by the representatives of the Wrocław City and Wrocław 2012 company.

According to the recent analysis of the situation, the planned term of completion of the stadium construction in Wrocław (December 2010) will not be complied with. At the present, the PL. 2012 Company conducts the deepened analysis of the arisen situation as well as provides supporting activities in favour of the Wrocław City, in order to ensure the possibility to finish the construction up to June 2011.
