62% of candidates are women. The number of applicants includes candidates from most of European countries and, among others, the USA, Mexico, Brazil, or Argentina. On February 15th, recruitment interviews will be launched in Wroclaw and Warsaw while on March 1st in Poznan and Gdansk. The final list of volunteers will be ready at the beginning of May, then the volunteers will take part in trainings aimed to prepare them for their work during the Championships.The candidates for volunteers of UEFA EURO 2012™ Host Cities could submit their applications as of 19 October 2011 until 22 January 2012 through www.wolontariatmiejski2012.pl, a web portal dedicated to the project, by completing a form and taking an English test. In total, 6,822 people expressed their willingness to act as city volunteers during Euro 2012 in one of the Host Cities of the Tournament. In Warsaw, 2,736 people desire to become volunteers during the Championships, in Gdansk this number totals 1,076 people, in Poznan 1,295, and in Wroclaw 1,688 people.
'The number of almost 7,000 people eager to become volunteers during EURO 2012 is a confirmation of the substantial social involvement in conducting the European Football Championships in Poland,' says Mikołaj Piotrowski, Communications Director at PL.2012, 'Presently, we are in the final stage of preparations for Euro 2012 and it clearly follows that the most crucial thing at this stage is to guarantee high quality services for visitors. One of the most important projects in this scope is precisely the UEFA EURO 2012™ Host Cities Volunteer Programme. 3,000 volunteers in 4 Host Cities of the Tournament will do their best to provide tourists and football fans with complex information regarding other attractions planned in the city. The city volunteer programme shall have a fundamental impact on the reception of Poland as the Tournament organiser abroad.
