Platini thinks that everything has been going well in the frames of the preparations for the championships. 'We've put our trust in Poland and Ukraine and today I am happy. We went through a crisis, political problems, and personal changes in the governments – it wasn't always easy. Obviously, the organisation of the Tournament in Poland and Ukraine is a great challenge for us. But we believe that all is going in the right direction. New stadiums have been built, new airports and motorways are under construction '" – the UEFA President says.In his opinion, the Union of European Football Associations opted for promotion of football in new countries and EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine marks the beginning of implementation of this strategy. 'Poland and Ukraine need support on the part of the UEFA and experts since, just like South Africa, they have never organised a sporting event of such a rank. We will do our best for everything to go smooth. The UEFA's political decision is a challenge, and we have faced it successfully. We can always go back to Germany, Italy, and England. But football must be promoted and developed in other regions as well,' Michel Platini emphasised.
