Friendly football match played on November 11 in Wrocław, between the national teams of Poland and Italy, provided an opportunity for further observations of the status of our country's readiness for UEFA EURO 2012™
Just as at any mass event (and so during the Euro 2012) the medical and emergency rescue services are a part of the wider safety and security system. Therefore, also in Wrocław all operations of medical services are coordinated with the operations of the police and other services in charge of safety – including security and fire services.A medical and emergency rescue operations plan has been developed for the stadium in Wrocław. It was consistent with the guidelines of the Medical Committee of UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland. On behalf of PL.2012, the work of medical services was observed by Elżbieta Lipska, National Coordinator of Healthcare and Rescue Services and by a Team of Observers of the Medical Committee. Start of operation of medical services at the stadium was scheduled for 16:00, so as to be present and prepared to work before the opening of the gates (17:30) and the beginning of match (20:45). Doctors and medical rescuers remained present also after the game – until all stands were empty. Their work ended at 23:30. A total of 6 physicians were engaged during the special duty service at the Stadium in Wrocław (4 for the spectators, one in the VIP area, and one for the players and judges). The medical staff also included: 24 two-person foot patrols, 6 first aid points, two teams of four stretcher bearers on the pitch, and 7 ambulances. – The test of the effectiveness of medical services at the Stadium in Wrocław was successfully passed – said Elżbieta Lipska, National Coordinator of Healthcare and Rescue Services at PL.2012. – At the same time, not without importance were the experience and qualifications of the medical staff that worked on the fifth event in a row held at the stadium so far, and the efficient organization and supervision provided by the Medical Coordinator of the stadium – says Elżbieta Lipska.
