logo_port_full_onwht_rgb_rgbThe European Football Championship has been working on its reputation for several dozen years, becoming, inter alia, a great commercial product. But be careful - it will not be possible to use logos related to EURO 2012 freely. Poland and Ukraine committed themselves to protecting the intellectual property rights connected with EURO 2012. Designations such as “Poland Ukraine 2012" or “EURO 2012" are trademarks. They are the exclusive property of UEFA. Any reference, in a whole or in a part, to graphic symbols, words which are subject of the protection of trademarks belonging to UEFA or any modification to them is an illegal application of these symbols. Unless UEFA gives its consent or licence for the application of these symbols.

In addition, Poland and Ukraine committed themselves to taking actions aimed at control of the so-called ambush marketing, i.e., advertising products and services based on connotations with the European Championship. UEFA logos may not be used for commercial purposes on websites or in names of internet domains.

People, who will not be able to enter a stadium, will have a chance to watch matches within the framework of well-organized mass events called public viewing. Public viewing means watching EURO matches outdoors, on a screen whose diameter exceeds 3 m. The public viewing organizer must obtain a special UEFA licence for this purpose. If public viewing has no commercial nature, i.e., no charges are paid to the organizers and no third parties sponsor it, then such a licence will be free of charge. However, the licence will never be granted to an entity whose scope of activity agrees with the scope of activity of official UEFA sponsors as well as an entity who functions in the industry with which the championship should not be associated as, e.g., tobacco industry or liquor industry.

The implementation of Poland's suitable guarantees and commitments which have been declared in the aforementioned scope at the candidate stage, takes place through the cooperation of the National Coordinator with, inter alia: UEFA, PFA, Host/Alternative Cities, Ministry of Sport and Tourism, Patent Office, Customs Policy Department at the Ministry of Finances, Police, Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and other entities. Moreover, the National Coordinator runs the information activity, answering, inter alia, numerous questions asked by Polish businesspeople interested in the application of future EURO 2012-related symbols in their activities.
